Design for a new Construction training school located at Tlateloco Square in Mexico City. The school’s workshops and building yard are sunk to lower ground level to reduce noise transfer to the surrounding residential area. Above ground sits the classrooms, offices, cafeteria and lecture theatre.
Market stalls, canopies, bandstands, street furniture and installations are constructed within the school and brought out for festivals held on the square. An inhabitable sunscreen shades the workshop courtyard below, providing a scaffold wall to build structures whilst acting as the school’s public frontage on the square.
